Passion Tree Care Services Ltd will deliver the home care services with the safeguarding of vulnerable adults as guiding principles through the following; Safer Recruitment; Prior to starting employment all staff must provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, two employment references or three character references and undergo an enhanced DBS check. Passion Tree Care Services will always undertakes a risk assessment where a DBS check shows a caution/conviction. Induction; Each employee completes Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Safeguarding Children and Mental Capacity Act awareness induction training, in line with Care Certificate and CQC requirements, based on six safeguarding principles: Empowerment; Prevention; Proportionality; Protection; Partnerships; Accountability aligned to the Care Act 2014. Training will be localised to Essex’s procedures and refreshed as required. All management staff receive in-depth MCA and DoLS training Passion Tree Care Services has safeguarding policies, aligned to local policy, continually updated in line with changing legislative/political requirements. All policies are formally reviewed annually or as required by QCS (Quality Compliance System). Staff receive policy training during induction; policies are available to staff at each branch and via the company subscribed QSC website. Policies include: Safeguarding of: Vulnerable Adults and Children Whistle-blowing Complaints Mental Capacity Act DoLS Local safeguarding strategy and reporting protocol Managing service user finances Health and Safety Accident/Incident reporting Risk Management Safer people handling DBS Recruitment/Selection Lone working Reporting Concerns Passion Tree Care Services is experienced in working with the council’s safeguarding procedures. Staff are trained to report (and support service users to report) concerns in line with Adult Safeguarding Policy and Procedures and Local Authorities Procedures. In the event of a safeguarding alert, within 24 hours, the local branch will inform Essex Safeguarding Adults Board, social work teams, CQC and police where appropriate, cooperating with the nominated lead agency in investigating all incidents, while supporting the service user. We have a nominated local safeguarding lead (Branch Manager). Passion Tree Care Services adopts the Making Safeguarding Personal person-centred approach to safeguarding aligned to the Care Act 2014. Safeguarding leads are trained to engage with service users in suspected safeguarding situations, providing information and advice on how best to support and safeguard them in the situation, but respecting the service user’s wishes with regards to how they wish to proceed and whether they wish to report the situation, ensuring the service user has choice and control. Passion Tree Care Services Ltd will take a lessons learned approach to service development. Our quality assurance team will oversee and monitor our approach to safeguarding. The team will meet monthly to review safeguarding incidents (which will be recorded centrally), actions taken and any emerging best practice and legislative and regulatory issues. Daily communication and weekly progress reviews: Passion Tree Care Services encourages individuals, family and carers to be fully involved in service delivery. Staff communicate with individuals daily regarding how they are feeling, care or support activities to be completed, and progress made towards outcomes. We have an open-door policy: enabling individuals, families and carers to ‘drop in’ to the branch to share their views, information, concerns and feedback. We will hold Service User forums to provide opportunities for service users/family members to voice their opinions and make suggestions to shape/improve services. Satisfaction questionnaires - Passion Tree Care Services will collect feedback regarding our service in an annual customer satisfaction questionnaire. This will be reviewed by an independent body. Once results have been analysed, a time-limited action plan will be devised with set review points to record when improvements are made.
